Lian Ngau and Aran Tase giving a Sape performance Original handcrafted Sape made by the Kenyah of Sarawak for Sale
A collectors item
The 3 units for Sale Several units of SAPE a Sarawakian Musical instrument was brought in by the Kenyah Tribal people to the recent Malaysia Craft show. Not wanting to bring all the instruments back with them after the show, they put it up for sale. We manage to buy from them these units. These SAPEs have been used many times in their village for their dance celebrations. Hand engraved motifs, one unit has engravings at the side They are not commercial factory units made of soft wood but are actual playable units made from hard wood. Each weights about 4.5 kg and is about 1.2 meter in lenght. As all 3 units are handcrafted, none is the same, each with differences in pattern motifs, lenght of unit and their string placement. The difference of originals is that the patterns on the front are hand engraved and not painted on. One unit has engravings on its sides and another has a square hole in front created by the maker for better sound. The sides and front are with slightly darker shades from constant use. Hand crafted Price for each unit is USD250.00 with free delivery around Klang Valley. For purchases outside of Klang Valley, packaging cost and forwarding to be borne by purchaser.
